Palmer Ranch is a master-planned community in Sarasota County, Florida, located between the cities of Sarasota and Osprey. It is named after businesswoman, socialite, and philanthropist Bertha Palmer – wife of Chicago businessman Potter Palmer – who was considered a Florida real estate pioneer who purchased 80,000 acres of land in the area in 1910.

The land where Palmer resided – upon which the socialite, known for her lavish spending, added many gardens and buildings – is now known as the Historic Spanish Point Garden and Historic site.

Palmer Ranch has a total area of approximately 6,733 acres, bounded by Clark Road to the north, U.S. Route 41 to the west, Interstate 75 to the east, and approximately where State Road 681 and the Legacy Trail meet to the south.

The Palmer Ranch has become one of the most popular areas of Sarasota to live in due to its well-planned out neighborhoods, location to many conveniences, and the diversity of housing styles, ranging from condominiums to million-dollar estates, all located just minutes from the county’s renowned beaches, cultural, business and civic centers.

The Palmer Ranch area is home to three prominent gated golf course communities: Prestancia, which has two 18-hole championship golf courses; Stoneybrook Golf and Country Club, which has is an 18-hole, 72 par Arthur Hills designed course; and The Oaks Club – situated just outside ‘s southern border – that features two 18-hole courses.

Palmer Ranch is also close to a plethora of shopping, restaurants – including First Watch, J Ryan’s, Ruth’s Chris Steak House – and recreation options, such as numerous hiking and biking trails. Residents also have access to one of the best rated beaches – Siesta Key Beach – in all of the United States, including Hawaii.

In addition, the community’s educational needs are served by the Sarasota Public School District, some of the best-rated schools in Florida State.
