SARASOTA, FL – Affluent individuals who are looking for a new home where they can work on their golf game may be interested to know of a residence in Sarasota, Florida that has just the hit the market for a cool $15 million – making it one of the most expensive single-family homes for sale in the city – and it comes complete with a putting green built into its rooftop

The 5,400-square-foot, three-bedroom home is located on a half-acre of land that boasts approximately 75 feet of frontage on New Pass, a waterway that connects Sarasota Bay with the Gulf of Mexico. The property was originally purchased in 2010 for $2.2 million; the owner, David Hargreaves, then demolished a small home that was originally there in order to make way for the construction of a new residence.

Hargreaves, a former executive at toy company Hasbro, spent approximately $2.8 million building the home, in addition to a second two-bedroom guesthouse on the property; there is an enclosed courtyard between the two homes for added privacy that contains a 60-foot heated lap pool.

Both homes were designed with a modern edge, and feature floor to ceiling glass walls; the main house contains numerous high-end amenities, including an elevator, a gym and sauna, and hot tub on a terrace off the master bedroom.

But the real draw of the main house is the 1,500 square-foot rooftop deck, which features breathtaking views of the Gulf of Mexico and a luxury putting green, which Hargreaves installed to cater to his wife Linda, who is an avid golfer.

The home, whose construction was completed in 2011, was originally used for vacationing; however, after retiring in 2011, Hargreaves moved from his primary residence on Rhode Island and began living in the Sarasota estate full-time.

Reason for the sale, he said, is because he and his wife have decided to take a nearby plot of land that they had originally purchased as an investment property and instead build yet another new home there; while that residence is under construction, the couple plans to live in a nearby condominium.
